Welcome to the La Salle High School Cross Country (XC) Web Site.  The Cross Country Lancers have a rich history.  We promote hard work - athletically, academically, and spiritually.  Our team members strive to be winners on the course and off.  Led by Head Coach Frank Russo since 1982, we always compete at 100%, yet expect all of our runners to demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship at all times.  It's a formula that has made the LaSalle running program the best in Cincinnati.

11/25/2011 - Congratulations to the Big Red Express on a great year that included a team trip to the Regional meet and Drew Michel's run in the State meet. It was another season that upheld the finest traditions and standards of the La Salle cross country program.  At the recent fall sports banquet, Senior Drew Michel was awarded the Lancer Award and the GCL Cross Country Runner of the Year Award. Senior Marc Nie received the Bob Krueger Sportsmanship Award.  Senior Clayton Cardinal received the David Jacob Award recognizing his outstanding determination and work ethic that symbolizes the Lancer XC program.  There were too many athletic all-star awards to list individually here, which is a very good thing that shows our athletes are as good in the classroom as they are on the course.

Good luck to our seniors as they move on to college or elsewhere, whether they continue to run or not. Good luck to our underclassmen as they prepare to move up and represent La Salle as the 2012-2013 Big Red Express!

11/25/2011 - Several hundred more pictures were just uploaded to the PICTURE GALLERY from Craig Babcock. There are new albums from the pre-season party, Greenville, Mason, GCL and Regional.  For now, they are all at the beginning of the gallery to make them easier to find since they are new.  They will eventually move into date order like the rest of the albums.  There are still more pictures from late in the season to be uploaded.

11/25/2011 - After the banquet, several people inquired about purchasing copies of the video that was shown. It's now ready. The two disc set follows the format of previous years with the first disc being the video that was shown at the banquet. The second disc is the banquet and awards. Both discs have picture collages (different for the two discs) printed on them. They are contained in a double DVD case with yet another custom collage on the front. The runner's name is printed on disc 1 and the box (unless you request otherwise). Each runner who was on the team through the end of the season is include in the video. Each runner appears at least 5 times and at least one of those is in slow motion. Click Here for the order form with more information.

11/1/2011 - Full results from the regional meet and additional commentary are available on the RESULTS PAGE.

Many runners are still practicing with Drew Michel, helping prepare him for the state meet this Saturday.  More details about the state meet will be sent out later in the week.

10/29/2011 - This year's journey for the Big Red Express cross country team ended today in Troy, Ohio.  The team finished in 9th place out of the 16 teams in their race.  Only the top 4 teams advance to the state meet next weekend.

However, we do have some good news to report. Senior Drew Michel finished in 9th place overall and qualified to the state meet as an individual. Congratulations Drew! Please join us in supporting Drew as he represents La Salle High School in the State Meet next week. More information on that will follow this week.

Congratulations to St. X the #1 qualifier, as well as Mason, Kings and Centerville who also qualified from the southwest region for state.

The varsity squad represented La Salle well and ran a good race. However, at the regional level where all the teams have already won to get there, good is not good enough. We'd like to congratulate the entire cross country team on a nice season. We're proud of all of you. It's been a fun season. Seniors finished their careers at La Salle capping 4 years of dedicated hard work.  The varsity squad stepped out of the shadow of last year's very talented team, just as next year's varsity squad will step up to fill the shoes of this year's team.

We met a lot of new teamates and their families. We hope your first season was fun and rewarding.  We'll provide full results of today's meet shortly and a post of the season after next week.

Your 2011 regional qualifiying La Salle Cross Country Team - Thanks for a great year men!!

9/1/2011 -  For those of you who may not have heard, La Salle is trying some exciting new things this year. Among those is the La Salle Network, an online broadcasing system. They are broadcasting football games and sports talk shows through the week. The hosts are trying to include many different sports and activities in the broadcasts. In fact, Coach Russo and some members of the Big Red Express have been frequent guests.

Tailgating
It's not ALL about the running.  La Salle cross country fans are known for "doing
it up right".  There's usually  food involved, and a large following for the team.

Many cross country courses are known for a distinct feature.
Greenville Bridge       Riffle Hill
When you talk about running in Greenville, this is probably the first thing that comes to mind.  Sure it's picturesque and harmless looking, but when hundreds of runners cross this bridge, it comes to life, bouncing and swaying.  What are you supposed to do? Well, you cross that bridge when you come to it (twice). Much like the Greenville course is known for its bridge, Indian Riffle Park in Kettering, OH is know for "The Hill".  It looks big here.  After running 4K, it looks huge!
